Welding
The purpose
of this class is to give you an introductory look at welding and metal working. We
will cover some of the safety standards, equipment, employment, and spend a particularly large amount of time working on some
of the various skills one needs in order to weld. If you have an interest in
welding for a career, this class will give you the foundation you will need to go farther into the field by attending a welding
school or community college. If you do not see yourself welding as a career choice,
then you are going to learn a new skill that just might come in handy later in life.
Many of the
skills you will learn in this class will be useful to you if you weld later in life as a person employed in production agriculture
or as someone with a welder in your garage.
The following
is a list of requirements that you will need to have before you will be allowed to work in the shop.
1. Long
sleeve wool or cotton shirt.
2. Coverall,
overall, or old jeans to change in to.
3. Old
shoes (preferably something besides athletic shoes)
4. Safety
glasses (we will provide these if you wish)
